Safer Streets Secures Future of Sheerness Youth Clubs
In April 2024, nationwide youth funding cuts threatened the essential work we've been doing in Sheerness for years. Thankfully, at the last moment, Safer Streets stepped in to save the day. They not only agreed to fund our incredibly popular Youth Club at Sheerness County Youth Club but also expanded our services by establishing a separate club for older youths in the area.
This turnaround is fantastic news for the local young people. What started as a fear of losing their beloved youth club has transformed into an exciting opportunity with an additional provision. Furthermore, Safer Streets has ensured we can offer free food at both youth club sessions and provided funding for more staff, enhancing our ability to engage effectively with the local youth.
The impact of these clubs is immense; they provide a safe space for young people to discuss their concerns about school, home, or peer relationships with trusted, responsible adults. Thanks to Safer Streets, the youth of Sheerness now have even more support and opportunities for positive engagement.
