National Youth Work Week is an annual week-long celebration organised by the NYA celebrating everything Youth Work! This year the National Youth Agency announced that the theme for this year’s celebrations would be:
“This year we will be celebrating the champions of youth work around the country, these can be fantastic youth workers who champion by doing great youth work or incredible young champions who have inspired youth workers around the country!” nya.org.uk
We celebrated our youth team this week with a small token of thanks by gifting them a wellbeing box. Our team has worked hard all through the pandemic (and of course pre-covid!) with entertainment, new projects, wellbeing care, detached work, and holiday activities.
Through it all, VIBE has managed to work with over 600 young people, many more than once! This has been through school projects, events, clubs, and activities. The team has covered many miles walking too, especially when detached work was all we could do! Over the last year we managed to set up a new club in Faversham and Online; two new clubs in Iwade and took on a Rushenden youth club. We discovered new areas of Swale with our detached work, leading to a project in Iwade, Newington & Upchurch. We have trained peer mentors, are about to train buddies, have delivered wellbeing boxes, and worked one-to-one with young people who most needed it. Over Summer we took on Ellie, Sophie, and Alicia as new members of the VIBE team! Our team is now 12 strong! – Champions!
