Hello everyone and welcome to September! Over the next few weeks, we will be updating you on all areas of the Brogdale CIC Group as we have grown so much over the summer! Today we want to share what has ‘risen up’ in our Food With Friends Café this summer.
The team at Food With Friends have been working very hard to support the Mums & Dads in Ashford! During the Summer we were awarded funding for a Holiday Activities & Food Programme to run from our café. It was great to get to know new members of the community and see how our Cafe could support them. We were asked by a member of the community, Pippa Jane, if she could form some Mother & Toddler groups at the café!
Today we hosted an open day to show off our new children’s area. We are offering a secure space and Pippa Jane already has many mums interested.
We also have had interest from a senior citizens group looking for a place to meet. Our café is a great place for community groups to come, meet and enjoy a cuppa and cake (or even a meal).

As we are now enjoying the last of our British summer, don’t forget you can come and grab your picnic bags and enjoy a family picnic in the park! Perhaps you’d like one of our delicious pastries or homemade cakes added to it! Or, if the weather changes, come and join us for lunch & choose from our lovely menu, or daily specials board & while we are cooking your lunch, enjoy one of our speciality coffees or teas, we’d love to have your company!
Amongst all this, the Food with Friends continues to be a place of learning, through our Craftworks College & Learnabout Day Service. Tutor Francesca has changed roles and is now the college progressions officer, and Antonio is now in place as the Food & Cookery tutor!
