This week is Children’s Mental Health Week. We believe supporting children and young people (and all people) in their mental health is of high importance and wellbeing is threaded throughout all of the Brogdale CIC Suite of businesses.
Have you heard of Kooth?
Kooth is a free, safe, and anonymous website for young people. This week they launched their don’t do it alone campaign, working with influencers such as Chunkz, Amelia Dimz, Jax Jones, Joy Crookes, and Riyadh Khalaf to show, there are some things that should be done alone 😬 Dealing with our mental wellbeing isn’t one of them. We caught up with Karen Dawber who is a Kooth Integration & Participation Worker for London & the South East.
VIBE COMMUNITY CHARITY
Our youth work is getting a new name! In January we registered as Vibe Community Charity, and a new website and branding are rolling out! At the center of our youth work is always the young person. Whether that’s giving social opportunities, mentoring, training, getting them outdoors, or entertaining, all of this is wrapped around seeing young people thrive!
Over the last few weeks, we have seen an increase in media around young people’s mental health during the pandemic. We would love to train a team of volunteers as mentors to support young people once we can be back into schools.
BCIC SOCIAL BUSINESSES
Our three current Social businesses Pruning Time, Food with Friends, and Learnabout are full of opportunities to increase wellbeing for adults with learning disabilities. We can’t wait to start up our three new businesses this year too!
CRAFTWORKS COLLEGE
Our college is based on the belief that every person is of value. We provide qualifications and training for young people who may feel that mainstream schools do not work for them. We have a dedicated SENCO and TA’s who ensure student wellbeing and a team of Tutors who work with the students to give them the tools they need to grow their knowledge & skill base. Our sites all offer small classes and inspiring surroundings. Last year we also relaunched our Student Voice initiative to encourage young people’s feedback and confidence in sharing ideas and opinions
