The club offers fabulous opportunity to learn about food including:

Where it comes from

Nutrition

How to make a variety of dishes and how to present them

Coming together with food is a fun event which helps to develop social and independent skills.  During the year, each young person, with support, will cook a meal and shares it with the rest of the group. At Ashford there are 6 young people who attend regularly. Learn how to bake and cook, learn how to use kitchen equipment, learn about different foods, how they are grown and how to cook them, learn how foods change in taste and texture when cooked in different ways.

Fundamental to the clubs’ ethos is being self-sustaining. By selling their products, sourced from Muddy Wellies where possible, this can be achieved. And, in the actual selling of their products at market, they are learning valuable retail skills.
